I found this old video I made for a class project about staying in a hostel. It's corny as hell and it's the first time I've ever narrated, but it was for school, cut me some slack.
Anyways, hotel accommodations in most large cities are gonna set you back a few $100 in most cases. Hostels are generally between $15-$35. Staying in a hostel forces you to meet and interact with people. Get out of your lame comfort-zone. Staying in hostels are almost as fun as the trip its self.

I stayed in hostels, when not sleeping in couchettes on trains, during backpacking in Europe for a month after University. Had a wonderful time. Somehow I had it in mind that there are age restrictions for hostels - i.e. young folks only. Maybe that's only for Europe? Or not the case at all?
In my experience there are no age restrictions. Actually, that's not true. I once saw a group of kids turned away for being under 18. I once met a 60 year old Argentinian couple at a hostel in Montreal.
